Blog EntryDay One...Buying The BookMay 22, '08 2:16 PM
for everyone

I thought I would do a running blog about mine and hubbys trials on quiting smoking.  I've been waiting for him to finally say to me that he's ready to quit...and yesterday was the day.  I'm in no real hurry to quit myself for it ...the smoke..has become a good friend to me.  It's been there thought the good and bad times in my life.  Today I do call smoking a friend, we shall see what I call it in weeks to come.

Over the last few weeks friends have told me about a wonderful book they read.  It's by Allen Carr and it's called Easy Way To Quit Smoking.

allencarr

Today I went out and baught the book at Chapters, retail price was $19.95 but I saw it on Amazon for $11. While flipping thought the book two people commented on it, how they have baught it and both had stopped smoking.

My frined last night who read the book, and smoked while reading it said the last page she put out her smoke and hasn't picked one up in 3 months...she has no desired to..she's been a smoker for 30+ years.

So I thought I would do a blog here and there about this book, since it seems to be a secret....no one has told me whats inside, what the book is about or how this magic book makes you become a none smoking....I will.

I've tried to quit smoking cold turkey before and I honestly thought I was going to die. So wish US luck...I'm  kind of excited to start this book and then a little scared in lossing my friend the smoke.

OMG... let me know if this works for you. I so need/want to quit and have tried everything. Hypnosis worked for 5 years but I've tried EVERYTHING for the last 10 years and can't get past a few weeks.

From what friends have said...you smoke each day like normal, even when reading the book..so if it takes a week to read or a month...you're still a smoker and smoking...but my g/f said she was smoking and when she got to the last page, she put her smoke out and never (3 months) picked another one up.

I never thought of smoking as my friend. I'd never heard anyone else say that either until I took the smoking cessation class at work (that was required to relieve me of the $600 smoking tax). It was just something I did.

There is this Canadian girl who was truly concerned about her husband's smoking.

She told me that she had finally gotten him to agree to limit his smoking at home to only those times when they had finished making love. She had gotten the idea from a classic movie they had both see on TV called "Cold Turkey".

After about a week, I asked her how it was going.

"Well, not too bad." She said, getting up off of a pillow she had in her chair and limping towards the photocopy machine. "I've gotten him down to about a pack a night now."

LOL

Good luck Sens! I am looking forward to seeing the outcome of this for you and your hubby! I need to quit smoking but my hubby REALLY needs to quit! He smokes about 2 packs a day and he weazes and coughs sooooo bad! Makes me sick and all I can think of when he is coughing so bad is that I am going to lose him the same way I lost my mom. It terrifies me. Best wishes in this crazy hard habit to quit! I quit for 15 months one time and still can't believe how dumb I was to think I can just have one no and then! lol hugsss

Oh there are times I wish I could quit smoking so bad, its dirty, makes your home stink, etc. not to mention how things get all yellow from the crap. I have been smoking for years (since I was at least, 16) steady since I suppose about 20. By all means tell us about the book, if it can do the trick I will be running to the book store. Good luck to you and your hubby, hope you can do it.

Hey Sens... I've been coughing and hacking so I decided to research this book and perhaps buy it and get started. I found this website and there is a free MP3 hypnosis that is supposedly related to that book. I haven't listened to it to see what's up with it but you can check it too.
